about par-avion co.

par-avion co. is a Norfolk, UK based furniture and design partnership founded by Simon and Monica Cass. With diverse backgrounds spanning architecture, lighting and furniture, our work is evocative of a carefully crafted process that mixes traditional craft and modern styling. par-avion co.’s focus on sustainability is rooted in our ethos of sourcing local & natural materials, making products that are built to last and operating under a zero waste economy.
Our aim is to design and make good quality products for a reasonable price. We are not interested in transient fads and fashions; we hope what we make is timeless and will be treasured for many years to come.
The original pi stool, designed by Simon Cass, was awarded Design Guild Mark #253 by the Worship Company of Furniture Makers in 2021. The Mark recognises the highest standards in the design of furnishings in volume production and is judged by an independent body of renowned judges.

In 2021 we were awarded one of nine Endangered Craft Funds to teach willow skeining and seat weaving from the Heritage Crafts Association. The grant, which was launched in 2019 to increase the likelihood of endangered crafts surviving into the next generation, provides the a viable opportunity to pass on skills that could otherwise be lost. The HCA has been an invaluable tool for research and is a vital advocate for skilled makers and heritage craft viability in the U.K
Founded in 1972, the Crafts Council is the national charity for craft. They support makers & businesses and champion craft of all kinds through exhibitions, research, publications as well as learning & outreach initiatives. The Crafts Council Directory provides a database of over 800 craftspeople from across the UK, and we are one of them.
